They weren’t kidding about the traffic being quieter. It’s a strange concept, but despite the chaos, noise, horns, disregard for the safety of other drivers, no one seems to get annoyed. I’m sure it happens, but I’ve seen far worse displays of rage on UK roads. I had to cross a main road to go for lunch, given we work UK hours, lunchtime is about 5pm local time so was right in the middle of rush hour. The trick seems to be to group together, then you all run as fast as you can. The traffic isn’t moving particularly fast but getting hit by a car isn’t on my list of things to do!
Saw my first cow roaming the streets, although, I’m coming to the conclusion that everything we were told (some of which was quite scary) was all worst case. I’ve not felt unsafe at any point. All buildings have metal detectors and bag scanners. Cars are searched underneath, bonnet and boot but this is carried out quickly and because everyone is used to it, isn’t an issue. No photos today, will try harder tomorrow
