After yesterday’s drive, decided to have a day off today so stayed around Queenstown. What a place, you know the day will start off well when this view greets you the moment you step out of the door
I wanted to try a Fergburger, as the two questions you get having visited here are ‘Did you have a Fergburger?’ and ‘Did you do the Luge ride?’ I went early as I went past last night and the queue was around the corner. This morning it was better but was still a 20 minute wait. It’s amazing, apparently this company does no marketing or gimmicks, it’s just a good product that people adore. I ordered (and it was a reasonable price, $11 which is about £4.60. It was a good burger!

Once that was done, I went and bought a few touristy things and booked the trip for the next day, then I sat and had a coffee in the sunshine and watched the world go by. There was a lot of performance going on in the centre, from two blokes doing an acoustic version of ‘No Diggity’ which was rather good, to someone playing a piano on a trailer. I also took advantage of the free laundry facilities at the motel. I know that’s not very interesting, but as it serves as a reminder for me primarily, that’s what I did (I don’t have photos of the laundry or facilities unfortunately)
After that, I thought I’d change my answer to the second question, ‘Did you do the Luge Ride?’ to yes. A brief walk to the cable car station and I was on my way up the hill. The views got better as you went up as you’d imagine
The Luge was great fun, I got 5 rides, which consisted of a chair lift up, then brief tutorial for the first run, and a off you go. There was 2 runs, a scenic and a fast. First run is the scenic but was exciting, then round again for the fast, throwing caution to the wind, I was passing people all over the place, having a great time, despite being a good 5 to 10 years older than the majority of people on it!
There were a few viewing platforms, from the top. Possibly a bit boring having the same view, but the pictures just don’t do it justice!
Once I’d finished, I went back into the town and sat on the beach type cove to watch the sunset, which wasn’t disappointing!
