Today was one of those days when everything works out! Got up early to take the hire car back and all the traffic lights were green, then, walking back, all the pedestrian crossings were also green.
Headed out to Bondi as I’d heard it was a nice place, and that there was a coastal path to a place called Coogee which was lovely.
Got on a train at central, then a bus at Bondi junction and within 25 minutes of leaving the apartment, this was my view
Bondi is a mix of back packers, surfers and skateboarders, and has quite a relaxed atmosphere. Quite a lot of posing, think lots of heavily tattooed people not wearing a lot but a lovely place to visit.
I set off on the path, which was about 9km around headlands and bays, all nicely signposted and maintained. Saw a second kookaburra, many other birds I don’t know the name of, and this guy catching some sun
Also saw the home of the bondi icebergs, who are a hardcore bunch of swimmers who go out all year round. This was early spring, but the water was very cold, and I only paddled out to knee height!

The rest was just lovely views of the sea and coast, glorious sunshine also helped and I had a slightly sunburnt face when I’d finished!

Once at Coogee, I got back on a bus and train to southern quay and headed up to the bridge climb
The bridge climb was recommended by a friend of mine, it is very expensive, however, I’d come all this way and I know it’s that mentality that allows them to extort money, but I’d made my mind up.
We had a briefing, all loose items were either stored or attached to the jumpsuit they supply you with and headed out. Our guide was hilarious, knew loads about this history and was genuinely interested in it all. There was 3 other solo travellers so we formed a group and were chatting in between climbs and photos. Of course, its too dangerous to take your own camera, but for a fee, you can buy their photos. We did see the sun set over the city, and as I was stood at the top next to the beacon, the clouds parted and I got a magnificent view of the southern cross!
Once we were back down, I met Arron for dinner, right outside the opera house. Went into the Opera House for a look around, managed to sing a few bars, so technically, I’ve sung there!. We then went for a few drinks in kings cross. This is quite a sleazy area and we picked the most normal looking bar. It was very ordinary, with the usual regulars, reasonable beer prices, then a topless bar maid. I’m not sure if she just liked being topless, or if it was a protest as there was no gimmick or suggestion this was a feature. All power to her for whatever the reason!?
