One of the least successful but possibly most memorable walks we’ve done.  It started off before we set off, I booked the accommodation, and confused Keswick and Kendal, which are about 30 miles apart, so we were staying in completely the wrong place.  Then, on the day of the walk, I came down with a virus or something and was really not very well, but, onward and upwards!  We drove up to Keswick, got ready and set off.  It was a pleasant day.

The plan originally was to do great gable, but, not feeling great, we opted for the secondary walk first, of Skiddaw, which looked a reasonably gentle up and down

Having got to the top, I was not feeling good, I was going hot and cold, and generally not feeling 100%

the views were worth it though

Had the obligatory cakes

And got up on the trig point

then headed back down,

It was my actual birthday on the walk, so we headed out for something to eat, but I was getting worse by this point, so we decided not to do Great Gable at all (it’s disappointing, but safety first)

We did have a great walk around Grizedale forest the next day

Here’s hoping next year will be more successful!
